Do you want a better talk in front of an audience? Here is a simple advice: stop trying to be perfect! That's the advice of public speaking experts Seymour Segnit.

Segnit, a renowned life coach who helps people overcome their fear of public speaking, says many people unwittingly sabotage their speeches by setting too high a standard for them. In the process, they set themselves up for failure.

"I'm not saying they should not try to be at its best" Segnit says, "But do not obsess about it."

Segnit concerns about the cycle of negative thinking that is developed for individuals preparing for give a speech.

"As is, most people are too afraid to speak in front of a crowd," he says. If you expect your speech to be perfect, are likely to experience panic when making some gaffe minor.

"Of course we're going to make a mistake!" Segnit says, "You are not perfect! No one is."

Some of the best public speakers of our generation – including Tony Robbins and Barak Obama – commit speech errors and stumbling his words. But do not get nervous about these gaffes minor. "They just move on, or brush with a little humor" Segnit says.

Segnit's advice? "Just as good as you can and enjoy the ride," he says.

Segnit, whose company helps CTRN people to overcome fear of public speaking, has created a series of video lessons on operations of speaking anxiety.

"There are plenty of great resources out there to speak in public, "he says," But few agree with the psychological aspects of giving a speech, and that is what most people are really struggling. "

Among his lessons, it encourages people to visualize a successful scenario for the day of his speech.

"Most people fear giving a talk," he says, "So I wake up in the morning thinking" Oh no! I have to give my speech today. All I know is going to go wrong. "

But it need not be. Instead of imagining a bad result, why not imagine a discourse of success feels very good about?

"Why not?" Segnit calls. "The fear you feel is composed of only one resulted in something that has not happened yet. Why not get a good result in their place? "

Segnit encourages people to imagine their entire day to the point to finish his speech. "Imagine waking up and looking forward to his speech. Imagine yourself in detail, and imagine as if you are experiencing through their own eyes," says, "This is very important."

But a successful scenario means that you are trying to give a perfect speech? Segnit sees no contradiction.

"Statements of success are not perfect, and the speakers are not successful," he says. "But the speakers of success does not undermine it themselves with negativity. "

Segnits company, CTRN, helps people overcome their fear of public speaking. He sells a CD program on dealing with public speaking anxiety.
